Volusia County, FL Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Volusia County Code § 106-103(a) sets the weekly yard trash allowance for unincorporated customers: each residential improved property gets one 96-gallon and one 32-gallon container for garbage, plus up to four 32-gallon containers, or an equivalent volume of smaller containers, of yard trash collected each week. Anything larger goes through the county's bulk trash definition in Section 106-91: cuttings from normal yard maintenance that are too big or heavy for a regular container or bundle count as bulk trash only if they don't exceed four feet in length or 60 pounds, and are picked up through the same collector franchise.

Debris from tree removal, land clearing, land development, building demolition or home improvement is excluded from both yard trash and bulk trash, Section 106-103(c) requires customers to arrange and pay for that debris as a special service directly with the collector rather than setting it at the curb with regular waste. Yard trash and bulk items follow the same 12-hour set-out and removal window as garbage under Section 106-103(d)(5), and must go to the same ten-foot curbline collection point described in subsection (d)(1). A customer and collector who disagree about what qualifies as bulk trash can have the dispute decided by the director under the Section 106-91 definition, and that decision is final.
