Pembroke Pines requires a tree removal or relocation permit under Section 155.674 for any tree with a 4-inch or greater trunk diameter. Applications go through the Planning, Zoning & Landscaping Department. One of several qualifying conditions must be demonstrated. Replacement trees must be installed within 30 days. The permit application and instructions are available on the city's website.
Under Section 155.674, no property owner may cut down or relocate any tree without first obtaining a permit from the city. To qualify for a permit under Section 155.675, one of these conditions must be proven: the tree unreasonably restricts permitted use; development cannot proceed without removal; the owner made every reasonable effort to preserve trees; the tree significantly damages structures and cannot be mitigated; or the tree interferes with utility services. Applications are submitted to the Planning, Zoning & Landscaping Department (954-392-2100 or landscape@ppines.com). A replacement tree must be installed within 30 calendar days. FLEPPC Category I invasive species removals have waived fees. The APPLICATION FOR TREE REMOVAL OR RELOCATION form is available online.
Removing a tree without a permit violates Β§155.674. Penalties include fines, mandatory replacement, and potential liens.
