Pembroke Pines tree protection is codified in Sections 155.672β155.675 of the Land Development Code. Section 155.672 addresses improper tree maintenance. Section 155.674 requires a permit before cutting down or relocating any tree. Section 155.675 establishes standards for permit issuance: the tree must unreasonably restrict permitted property use, development cannot be located without removal, every reasonable effort to incorporate trees was made, the tree damages structures and cannot be mitigated through arboricultural practices, or the tree interferes with utilities. Replacement trees must be installed within 30 calendar days. Permit fees are waived for FLEPPC Category I invasive species for the south region. The city's Preferred Tree Planting List identifies recommended replacement species.
