Pompano Beach protects trees through Zoning Code Section 155.5204 (Tree Preservation). A Tree Permit is required before removal, relocation, or substantial alteration of any tree. Tree surveys by ISA Certified Arborists are required for permit applications. Replacement canopy must equal canopy removed. Unauthorized removal doubles the application fee.
Section 155.5204 of the Pompano Beach Zoning Code establishes tree preservation requirements. A Tree Permit under Section 155.2411 is required before the removal, relocation, replacement, or substantial alteration of any tree. Applications must include a tree survey and assessment prepared by an ISA Certified Arborist or registered Florida landscape architect. Replacement trees must provide canopy at maturity equal to or greater than the canopy removed, per Table 155.5204.E.1.b.ii. Trees removed before obtaining a permit face doubled application fees. Specimen and historical trees on owner-occupied residential properties of one acre or less may have reduced requirements if height and tree counts are maintained. Removal of trees prohibited by governmental agencies is not permitted under Β§155.5204.
Unauthorized tree removal doubles fees. Failure to replace per Table 155.5204.E results in additional penalties.
