Tacoma Water offers leak adjustment credits when customers repair an unseen plumbing leak within 60 days of detection, refunding a portion of the excess water and sewer charges.
Tacoma Public Utilities allows residential and small commercial customers to apply for a leak adjustment if a hidden leak, such as a slab leak or buried service line break, caused unusually high consumption. The customer must provide a plumber invoice or receipt for repair parts within 60 days. The utility credits roughly half the excess water charge above normal use, plus the corresponding sewer charge through the City of Tacoma sewer utility. Adjustments are limited to one per 12-month period. Visible leaks like running toilets generally do not qualify because they should be caught quickly.
Failure to repair a known leak after notice can lead to disconnection under Tacoma Water service rules and full billing without adjustment.
