League City has no breed-specific bans. Section 18-11 uses behavior-based criteria to declare animals dangerous or vicious. Any animal that bites, attacks, or menaces persons or kills domestic animals may be declared dangerous regardless of breed.
Section 18-11 establishes a behavior-based dangerous/vicious animal system rather than breed-specific legislation. An animal is deemed dangerous or vicious if it: inflicts serious bodily injury or death, bites a person, kills a domestic animal without provocation while off-owner's property, or approaches in a menacing fashion. Dangerous animals found at large may be killed by law enforcement without prior impoundment or owner notification under Section 18-11(j). Owners of declared dangerous animals must maintain secure enclosures, carry liability insurance, and register the animal. Failure to comply with dangerous animal requirements may result in license revocation and euthanasia under Section 18-11(i).
Dangerous animal at large: animal may be killed by officers under Β§18-11(j). Owner fined up to $500 per offense. License revocation and mandatory euthanasia for non-compliance with ownership requirements.
