Marietta, GA Animal Ordinances: Breed Restrictions (2026)

Marietta designated off-leash dog parks in Lewis Park and Wildwood Park under Ordinance No. 7046, adopted May 9, 2007, and Section 10-4-200(C) lists 16 rules for using them. 2 separately bars any dog, of any breed, with known aggressive tendencies. Other rules in the same subsection cap attendance at three dogs per owner or handler, require current license and vaccination tags on the collar, set a minimum age of four months, and require dogs to be leashed until inside the double-gated entry and off-leash only once inside it, under voice control and in sight of the handler at all times.

Section 10-4-200 sets no fine of its own, so a violation, including bringing a prohibited breed into the dog park, is enforced through Section 10-4-160's chapter-wide general penalty: a fine of not more than $500 or imprisonment of not more than six months. This breed rule is narrower than a citywide ban: outside the designated dog parks, Marietta does not maintain its own breed list. §§ 4-8-20 through 4-8-30, as the citywide enforcement standard.
