Middletown, OH Animal Ordinances: Cat Rules (2026)

Chapter 1810 of the Middletown Code of Ordinances governs cats, dogs and ferrets kept anywhere in the City of Middletown, Ohio, and its rabies-control rules double as the city's practical cat ordinance since Middletown has no separate cat-licensing chapter. 02 requires every cat six months of age or older to be vaccinated against rabies, with cats acquired or moved into the city vaccinated within 30 days of arrival unless still under six months old. 02(b) requires cats and ferrets to be re-vaccinated every single year, and every vaccination must be performed and billed by a licensed veterinarian at the owner's expense.

07 addresses cats that get loose: any unvaccinated cat found off the premises of its owner, keeper or harborer is impounded, and notice of the impoundment, including identifying marks, is posted at the pound. An owner can reclaim an unvaccinated cat during impoundment by paying the pound fees and completing rabies vaccination within 72 hours of the cat's release; a vaccinated cat can be reclaimed simply by showing proof of vaccination and paying impoundment fees.
