Missouri City prohibits dogs from running at large and requires owners to keep dogs restrained by leash or secure enclosure whenever they are off the owner's property under Chapter 10 of the city code.
Chapter 10 of the Missouri City Code makes it unlawful for any owner to permit a dog to run at large within the city. When off the owner's premises, dogs must be on a leash held by a person able to control the animal. On the owner's property, dogs must be confined by fence, kennel, or other enclosure. No public park within Missouri City permits off-leash activity. Animals running at large may be impounded by Animal Services, and owners must pay impound and boarding fees to reclaim them. Dogs over four months must be vaccinated for rabies and registered with the city.
Citations, impoundment of the animal, impound and boarding fees, and escalating fines for repeat at-large offenses.
