Under Palm Bay Code Chapter 90, which adopts Brevard County Chapter 14, physical control means adequate restraint using a proper leash or similar device attached to an appropriate collar or harness. Maximum leash length is 6 feet at full extension; animals on longer leashes may be considered at large. In Palm Bay city parks under Section 36.21, dogs are only permitted in automobile parking areas, adjacent walks, and areas marked 'Domestic Animals Permitted.' All dogs in permitted areas must be restrained on leashes no longer than 6 feet.
Animals found at large may be impounded by Brevard County Animal Services. Owners face impound fees and potential citations.
