Fort Worth Code of Ordinances Section 6-62 (Keeping of Certain Animals Prohibited) bans dangerous animals as determined by the director and any prohibited animal under Texas Health & Safety Code Section 822.102 (Dangerous Wild Animals). The state definition covers lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, bears, elephants, wolves, rhinoceroses, and their subspecies and hybrids. Exemptions include bona fide zoos, circuses, educational institutions, museums, licensed laboratories, publicly owned nature centers, and wildlife rehabilitators with state or federal permits. Miniature swine are addressed separately in the animal chapter with specific keeping provisions.
