Parker, TX Building Safety: Building Permits (2026)

04 of the Parker Code of Ordinances requires anyone who wants to construct, refurbish, remodel, or improve a building or structure inside the city to apply for a building permit with the City Secretary before starting work. The application must include a site plan, submitted in duplicate along with any extra copies the City Secretary needs for review by other administrative officers, drawn to scale and showing the lot's actual dimensions, the size and location of any existing building, and the location and dimensions of the proposed work.

The applicant must also supply whatever additional information the City Secretary lawfully requires to confirm the project conforms to the zoning rules in Chapter 156 and the subdivision control rules in Chapter 155. The City Secretary issues the permit only after the City Building Official approves it. The requirement covers new construction, remodeling, swimming pools, mobile homes, prefabricated structures, portable buildings, and outbuildings, fixed or movable, anywhere within the corporate limits. No placement, construction, remodeling, or refurbishment of any building or structure, of any kind, may begin before the permit is issued.

If the Building Official finds the city's building code has been violated and the property owner does not correct it after reasonable notice, the Building Inspector issues a citation and refers the complaint to the Municipal Court for prosecution.
