Most Elk Grove housing postdates 1978 (the federal lead-paint ban year) because Elk Grove incorporated in 2000 and most housing stock is new construction, but some legacy homes in historic Old Town Elk Grove and pre-1978 rural properties are subject to lead-paint rules.
