Full Breakdown
Since 1996, Westchester has run its own plumbing licensing system covering every city, town and village in the county. Anyone engaging in the business of plumbing as a master plumber, or hiring out plumbing work, must hold a valid, unexpired county master plumber's license and certificate of competency issued by the 11-member County Board of Plumbing Examiners; journey-level plumbers and apprentices work under a licensed master plumber's supervision.
Violations & Fines
Unlicensed plumbing work draws a civil penalty of $500 to $5,000 per day under §277.513, and operating without a license is a class A misdemeanor under §277.516.
