Full Breakdown

Under Sec. 140-140 of the zoning ordinance, front yards must be at least 25 feet in the Agricultural, SF-1, SF-2, SF-3, 2F-1, 2F-2, TH, MF-1 and MF-2 districts, and 15 feet in the Parking, Office, Neighborhood Service, General Retail, Limited Commercial, Commercial, Industrial-1 and Industrial-2 districts; the Central Business District has no front-yard requirement at all. Side yards (Sec. 140-141) run from a 15-foot minimum on Agricultural lots down to 10 percent of lot width (5-foot minimum) in most residential districts, and rear yards (Sec. 140-142) keep the main house at least ten feet off the rear line, with detached accessories cut to three feet.

Violations & Fines

Building without meeting the required setback triggers a stop-work order and denial of a certificate of occupancy from the building official; encroaching structures must be moved or removed.
