Full Breakdown

Texarkana's zoning code treats a driveway, garage, or carport as an 'automobile storage space,' and in the SF-1, SF-2, SF-3, PUR, 2F-1, 2F-2, TH, MF-1, MF-2, O and Neighborhood Service districts it bars parking any truck, truck trailer, or van there, which covers boat trailers, travel trailers, and box vans, unless the vehicle is a panel or pickup truck under 1½ tons. The Central Business District is the only zone excluded from the city's underlying off-street parking rule. Separately, city code treats any boat or trailer left in unusable condition as unlawful litter under Sec. 22-3, regardless of zoning district.

Violations & Fines

Violating the zoning code's residential parking rules is a fine of $500 to $2,000 under Sec. 140-318, with each day of noncompliance a separate offense enforceable by injunction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I park my boat trailer in my driveway in Texarkana?
City code doesn't name boats specifically, but Sec. 140-204(b) bars storing 'any truck, truck trailer or van' in a residential driveway, garage, or carport: a rule that reaches boat trailers and travel trailers, unless towed by an exempt pickup.
What if the trailer or boat is broken down?
It becomes unlawful litter. Sec. 22-3 lists any boat or trailer 'not in a useable condition' as a prohibited nuisance item on any property in the city, separate from the zoning parking rule.
