Dade City, FL Business Licensing & Operations: Adult Entertainment (2026)

Chapter 26, Article III of the Dade City Code of Ordinances regulates sexually oriented businesses inside Dade City, Pasco County, Florida. Sec. 26-71 defines the covered uses broadly, reaching arcades, bookstores and video stores, restaurants or clubs featuring specified nudity, motels offering access to sexually explicit material, adult theaters, nude studios and sexual encounter centers, based on whether the activity makes up 51 percent of a primary business or 20 percent of a secondary line of business. Sec. S. S. Highway 301. No sexually oriented business may sit within 1,000 feet of another one, and none may sit within 300 feet of a church, school, park or recreation area, or within 300 feet of the city's residential, neighborhood-commercial, open-use-agricultural or industrial zoning categories.

Distances are measured property line to property line in a straight line, or from the closest portion of a building housing the use in a multiuse structure. Sec. 26-72(c) forbids any variance from these separations. Sec. 26-101 requires a sexually oriented business permit from the city before a business commences or continues operating, and any business already operating when the article took effect had 90 days to obtain one. Enforcement runs through the city's code enforcement board under chapter 2, article V, and the article also bars variances there because it implements the city's land use plan and Ordinance No. 361.
