Dade City, FL Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

LDR Sec. 4(C)(2) governs what the code calls 'major recreational equipment,' defined to include boats and boat trailers, travel trailers, pickup campers, motorized dwellings, tent trailers, houseboats and moving PODs. None of it may be used for living, sleeping or housekeeping purposes when parked or stored on a residential lot or anywhere else not approved for that use. In a residential district, this equipment may be parked or stored in a rear or side yard, provided the side yard is not adjacent to a street, but it can never sit in the required front yard except for a brief loading or unloading window of no more than 24 hours anywhere on the premises.

A companion rule in Sec. 4(H) reinforces the street-facing limit: recreational equipment stored in a side or rear yard immediately adjacent to a street cannot stay there longer than 24 hours, and it cannot be left on a public right-of-way in a residential district for more than 24 hours either. Sec. 4(C)(4) then adds a separate rule for business districts: no recreational vehicle may be stored or parked overnight there unless the specific location has been approved for that use, closing off business parking lots as an overnight RV storage option.

None of these provisions prohibit owning a boat or RV in Dade City; they control where on the property it can sit and for how long it can occupy space visible from the street.
