Full Breakdown

Section 5.2.12.A permits mechanical work and repair of motor vehicles, boats, travel trailers, snowmobiles, and similar vehicles in residential zone districts, but only when the vehicle is licensed to, registered to, and used solely by the dwelling's occupant. The permission is conditioned: no more than one vehicle under repair at a time, no outdoor storage of parts or equipment, and repair work can't create excessive noise, vibration, odor, or other nuisance for neighboring properties. This is a personal-use allowance, not a home-based auto repair business license.

Violations & Fines

Running an unlicensed repair operation, working on more than one vehicle at a time, storing parts outdoors, or creating a nuisance is a Chapter 61 violation, enforceable by the City Manager under § 5.14.05.
