The Margate code spreads the rules that reach auto repair at a home across three places. First, the noise control article: § 33-79(h) targets vehicle repairs or testing near homes, and § 33-82 Table I sets the maximum levels. Residential districts get 55 dBA overnight and 60 dBA by day, commercial-agricultural districts 60 and 65 dBA, and industrial districts 65 and 70 dBA. When a noise source can be measured in more than one use district, the limits of the most restrictive district apply at the boundary.

Intermittent sound gets a correction: plus 15 for a source running one minute or less in any hour, plus 10 for five minutes or less, plus 5 for fifteen minutes or less, and minus 5 for repetitive impulse or pure tone sound. Second, the Land Development Code's vehicle storage rule: § 40.352 bars inoperative vehicles from private property unless enclosed, and its repair exception protects only vehicles at a business on property zoned for vehicle repair that holds a Margate Local Business Tax Receipt. Section 40.354 also bars using residential land for storage of equipment, machines, machine parts or building materials, other than during construction under an active building permit.

Third, the home occupation standards in § 40.614, which cover any use conducted entirely within a dwelling for financial gain: no more than twenty-five (25) per cent of the floor area, no advertising display, no outdoor storage or display of materials, products or equipment, no use of an accessory building or setback space, no activity outside the main building not normally associated with a residential use, and no external effect such as increased noise or offensive odor. Section 40.614 does not mention vehicles by name; its standards apply to every home occupation.
