Cherry Hill, NJ Business Licensing & Operations: Massage Establishments (2026)

Township Code § 6-8, originally adopted in 1971 and substantially amended by Ordinance No. 2025-5 on September 8, 2025, requires two separate layers of authorization for massage services in Cherry Hill Township, Camden County, New Jersey. 1b independently requires every individual who performs massage or bodywork therapy to hold a massage and bodywork therapist license issued by the State of New Jersey. 2 must list the applicant's addresses for the prior three years, a physical description of the premises, every therapist employed there along with copies of their state licenses, and any prior criminal conviction of the applicant or, for a corporation, its officers and directors.

3a, with licenses running the calendar year and a $200 late fee for anyone who has not renewed by January 31; fees are never prorated. Approval also requires that all municipal taxes, liens and fees on the premises are paid and that there are no open zoning, construction or property maintenance violations. 4b, the Township Clerk must refuse an application if the Chief of Police recommends denial based on the applicant's criminal record or other evidence of bad character or morals that would tend to encourage criminal or immoral activity.

5: a denied applicant has ten days to request a hearing before the Township Council or an independent hearing officer, who must issue a written recommendation within fifteen days of the last hearing date. 6 exempts massage or physical therapy given in a licensed physician's, osteopath's, chiropractor's or physical therapist's office, in a hospital or medical center, or in a patient's home by one of those licensed professionals.
