Forsyth County, GA Business Licensing & Operations: Tobacco Retail License (2026)

Forsyth County Code of Ordinances section 50-7 requires any business whose primary product line for retail sale is alternative nicotine products, vape juice, or both to hold a license issued by the Forsyth County Business License Department before selling. Primary is defined in the section itself as at least 50 percent of the business's aggregate retail sales. 00, payable to the Forsyth County Department of Business License. No license can issue to an applicant under 21, to someone who is not the property owner or leaseholder, to anyone denied a license within the prior year, or to a store located in or within 100 yards of a church building or within 200 yards of a school, educational building, school grounds or college campus, unless the store was already lawfully selling those products at that location before February 2, 2017.

Licensed vape retailers must also post signage listing the only chemicals authorized in vape juice sold there, pharmaceutical-grade vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, nicotine, food-grade flavoring and water, plus signage explaining safe e-battery use, and they cannot mix vape juice on site unless registered with the FDA. Persons under 21 may not even enter a store whose primary line is alternative nicotine products or vape juice unless accompanied by a parent or guardian, and storefront windows cannot be blacked out or curtained during business hours. Licenses expire every December 31 and must be renewed by the second Monday in December to avoid a ten percent late fee.
