Fargo, ND Business Licensing & Operations: Towing Companies (2026)

Subject to the exception in Fargo Municipal Code § 11-0403, a commercial towing service shall provide notice to the police department within twelve hours after completing the tow. The notice must include the following:1.The license plate number and state of registration,2.The location from which the abandoned motor vehicle was towed,3.The location to which the abandoned motor vehicle was towed to,4.The name, address, and telephone number of the commercial towing service that towed and is storing the abandoned motor vehicle, and5.A description of the abandoned motor vehicle, include the make, model, year, and color.D.A commercial towing service that fails to comply with this section may not collect a storage fee and shall return the vehicle to the registered owner at no cost to the owner, lienholder, or identifiable secured party.
