Springfield, MO Cannabis Regulations: Buffer Zones (2026)

Under Land Development Code Sec. 36-474, no new marijuana or medical marijuana facility may be sited, at the time of application for zoning approval, within 1,000 feet of an existing elementary or secondary school, a state-licensed child day care center, or a permanent building primarily and regularly used for religious worship. For a freestanding facility, the distance runs from the closest exterior wall of the facility to the closest property line of the protected use; where the protected use sits inside a larger structure, like an office building or strip mall, the measurement instead runs to that use's nearest entrance or exit. All measurements follow the shortest path a person could travel on foot.
