Bergenfield bans cannabis retailers, wholesalers, and distributors anywhere in the borough, allowing only delivery services to operate.
Under Bergenfield's zoning regulations, Class 3 cannabis wholesaler licenses, Class 4 cannabis distributor licenses, and Class 5 cannabis retailer licenses are prohibited from operating anywhere in the borough. Medical marijuana retail stores are likewise prohibited. The only cannabis business activity permitted within Bergenfield is the delivery of cannabis items and related supplies by licensed delivery services to consumers. The prohibitions were enacted on October 2, 2018 by Ordinance 18-2535 and were updated by Ordinance 21-2581 (May 4, 2021) and Ordinance 22-2591 (March 1, 2022) to align with the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Act.
