Cheektowaga's property maintenance code requires every household to keep garbage and refuse in approved, waterproof, rodent-resistant storage containers, screened from public view by landscaping or fencing, and shields dumpsters behind solid walls or fencing. Before any building is demolished, the premises must be baited for rodents by a licensed exterminator three weeks ahead of time. The Supervising Code Enforcement Officer enforces the rule town-wide, outside the Villages of Depew and Sloan.
