La Mesa requires a barrier around every outdoor swimming pool, spa and hot tub under LMMC § 14.20.020: at least 60 inches tall, no more than a 4-inch gap to grade, openings that cannot pass a 4-inch sphere, and self-closing, self-latching pedestrian gates. Indoor pools and continuously lifeguarded pools at hotels, motels and clubs are exempt.
