Sidewalk Repair
Newton makes the abutting property owner responsible for removing and replacing the public sidewalk and curbing across their entire street frontage whenever they demolish and rebuild, or substantially remodel or rehabilitate, a building on the lot. The work is done at the owner's expense under Sec. 29-158 of the Code of Ordinances, and the city withholds the certificate of occupancy until it is certified complete.
