Town Code Chapter 67 bans planting or installing any new bamboo anywhere in North Hempstead, effective since the Town Board adopted it September 29, 2015. Bamboo already growing on a property when the law took effect may stay, but the owner must keep it from spreading onto neighboring or Town land and cannot replant it once it dies.
