Waste Management (Sparks Sanitation) is the city's franchised hauler and service is mandatory under Municipal Code Section 7.12.030. Garbage is collected weekly, Monday through Friday; set carts curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled day. Recycling runs every other week on that same day.

All persons residing in the city in a single-family dwelling, all owners or managers of multiple-family dwellings, all business establishments, and all public buildings shall subscribe to the collection, hauling and disposal of solid waste.

Bin Placement Rules

Sparks residents must use Waste Management's 96- or 64-gallon carts; personally owned cans are not collected. Carts go to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Recycling uses the separate cart, emptied every other week on the same day.
