Wellington, FL Code Violation Reporting: Common Violations (2026)

Wellington's Code Compliance division, established under Article IV of Chapter 2, enforces the Village's codes through two tracks. Under Sec. 2-35, a Code Compliance Officer who finds a violation must notify the violator and give a reasonable time to correct it, unless the case is a repeat violation under Sec. 2-35(C) or poses a serious threat to public health, safety or welfare under Sec. 2-35(D), in which case the officer can go straight to a Special Magistrate hearing. 2-47: property maintenance (Secs. 13-2, 13-3), water restrictions (Sec. 9-28), failure to obtain a building permit (Sec. 5-2-105.1), alcoholic-beverage violations (Chapter 3), noise (Secs. 13-7, 13-8), solid waste (Chapter 17), failure to hold a Local Business Tax Receipt (Chapter 21, Article II), livestock-waste best-management-practice violations, prohibited signs, and unpermitted vegetation removal, each carrying a Class I through Class V penalty of $50.00 to $500.00. A contested citation goes to Palm Beach County Court, capped at $500.00 under Sec. 2-49(B); refusing to sign a citation is a second-degree misdemeanor under Sec. 2-49(D).
