Terrebonne Parish, LA Code Violation Reporting: Response Times (2026)

Terrebonne Parish Code Section 14-303 requires the planning and zoning department to inspect a property after any complaint, compiling a written report with photographs near the time of inspection. If a violation is confirmed, Section 14-304 requires a nuisance warning stating the nature, date, time and location of the violation, the corrective action required, and the department's contact information. S. 34:843. Tall grass violations under Article IV are exempt from the standard notice-and-content requirements of Sections 14-304 and 14-305 entirely. Once a nuisance citation issues, Section 14-305(b) again caps the corrective-action and payment period at five days, and the person cited can contest it under Section 14-305(c) by requesting a hearing, in person or in writing, within 72 hours of service before the nuisance administrative hearing officer.

Failing to appear at a requested hearing is treated as a prima facie admission of the violation and can carry an added penalty. A nuisance warning otherwise stays valid and in force for 12 months from issuance, and continuing or repeat violations extend that warning period automatically.
