Ada County Code 2-2-6(E) bars cyclists, e-bike riders, scooter users, skateboarders and in-line skaters from taking the Greenbelt or county bike paths at a speed that endangers other users. The same section's subsection J keeps wheeled riders off curbs, ornamental surfaces, picnic tables and other structures unless an area is posted as open to wheeled devices.

Ada County Code 2-2-10(G) bans e-bikes from the Ridge to Rivers foothill trail network but allows them on the paved Boise River Greenbelt. The county defines an e-bike, under 2-2-2, as a pedal bike with a motor of 750 watts or less that tops out at 20 mph and disengages when the rider brakes.
