Data Center Zoning & Siting

Baltimore County lets a data center or energy storage device locate in the R.C.5 Zone, including inside the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, under a dedicated set of bulk standards in BCZR § 443.1. Principal structures top out at 60 feet, setbacks run as low as 10 feet from any lot line, and the section carries no lot-coverage cap at all.

Data Center Noise Limits

A data center or energy storage device built under BCZR § 443.1 must comply with all state and local noise rules, including Maryland's COMAR 26.02.03.02 environmental noise standards and Article 17, Title 3 of the Baltimore County Code. The noise duty applies on top of the section's own setback, height and landscaping requirements.
