A standard R-20 single-family lot must keep 30 feet at the front (20 feet allowed on one internal street front for corner lots), 15 feet on each side, and 30 feet at the rear; RCon lots need 100-foot fronts and 50-foot rears.

Structure Height Limits

Catawba County caps residential structure height at 45 feet in every district from RCon through R-7 under Table 44-404-1, rising to 70 feet in Highway Commercial, Light Industrial and General Industrial. Sec. 44-404(h) exempts roof-mounted equipment, spires, cupolas, flagpoles and firewalls from that cap, and note 1 lets a tax-exempt church or synagogue build up to 70 feet, with steeples allowed extra height above that.
