County water customers in unincorporated Chatham County must fix any leak on their property or facilities within ten days of discovering it. An unrepaired leak is treated as wasteful water use under the year-round conservation ordinance and can trigger the same escalating penalties as other watering violations.

(5) Water leaks on property or facilities of the county customers must be repaired within ten days of discovery. ... (A) Penalties for failing to comply with these requirements are: (1) First offense: written warning; (2) Second offense: a penalty of $250 per occurrence; (3) Third offense: a penalty of $500 per occurrence; and (4) Fourth offense: water service will be interrupted.
