Cherokee County's zoning code does not create an accessory dwelling unit category. Zoning Ordinance Section 5.6 instead allows 'guest quarters' built into an accessory structure for temporary living only, expressly barring a complete kitchen, and permits just one such structure per lot, built at the same time as or after the main house. That combination blocks a true independent second dwelling by right in the AG and residential districts covering the unincorporated county.

A shed in unincorporated Cherokee County is regulated as an accessory structure under Zoning Ordinance Section 5.6. It cannot exceed 25 feet in height, its footprint is capped at 50 percent of the house's gross square footage, and it must stay at least ten feet off any side or rear line. Table 5.4 also limits how many accessory structures, sheds included, a lot may hold, from three down to one depending on the zoning district.
