Parkway Planting
Street trees planted in Doña Ana County's public rights-of-way must measure at least a 24-inch box, 1½-inch caliper, or 6 feet tall with a 2-foot canopy at installation, and cannot be spaced closer than their mature canopy width. Turf is banned in the parkway strip, and every tree needs a clear planting area under the Unified Development Code's landscaping standards.

Trees in parkways shall have a size combination of no less than twenty-four-inch box, 1 1/2 inch caliper, or six-foot height with a two-foot canopy width at installation time. Trees shall not be spaced closer than their mature canopy widths. They may use even or uneven groupings and spacing. Turf, regardless of irrigation method, is prohibited in this area.
