Park Drone Restrictions

Flying a drone over, or launching one from, a Floyd County park requires the Department of Parks and Recreation's sign-off. Floyd County Code § 92.05 bans operating remote-controlled drones in parks and separately bans taking off or landing a drone on park property without written permission.

§ 92.05 SPECIAL ACTIVITIES. It shall be unlawful: (A) To use or operate any remote controlled drone, airplane, boat, helicopter, parasail, hang glider, or hot air balloon, unless otherwise designated by the Superintendent of Parks; (B) To take off or land a drone on any park property without prior written permission of the Superintendent of Parks and/or a permit issued by the Department; or
