Fences in unincorporated Greene County are governed by the Greene County Zoning Regulations (originally adopted Dec. 26, 1978, amended). Fences up to eight (8) feet are permitted in rear and side yards as a matter of right; fences exceeding 8 feet but not greater than 10 feet in rear or side yards require approval of a conditional use permit from the Greene County Planning and Zoning Commission. Front-yard, corner sight-distance triangles, and easement restrictions also apply. Building permits are issued by the Greene County Building Regulations Office (417-868-4015). Inside Springfield or other incorporated cities, those cities' codes govern instead.
