The county allows only licensed wholesale and retail sale of fireworks at limited permitted locations, with a maximum of nine seasonal retail permits and authorized year-round distributorships. Inside Kansas City, Code of Ordinances Chapter 26 prohibits possession, storage, sale, use, and discharge of all fireworks within city limits, with permitted public displays as the only exception.
