Jefferson County does not require automatic fire sprinklers in one- and two-family homes. The county's amendment to Section R313 of the 2018 International Residential Code keeps the section only as an optional path: a builder may voluntarily install a sprinkler system, but if one goes in, it must meet IRC Section P2904 or NFPA 13D.
