Operating a mobile food unit in unincorporated Kankakee County requires a health department license under County Code Section 22-83; the license runs one calendar year and costs $250 to $400 depending on risk category, per Section 22-84(c) and the county's Chapter 18 fee schedule. Temporary food stands pay a $25 or $40 permit fee instead.

No person shall operate a food establishment, retail food store, temporary food stand or mobile food unit who does not have a valid license issued to such person by the health department. ...
