Solicitor Permits

Anyone going door to door in unincorporated Loudoun County to sell goods or take orders, a peddler, solicitor, or canvasser, must register with the County Sheriff before knocking on a single door. Registration costs $15 a year, requires a photo, and comes with a hard 9 p.m. curfew plus a Sunday/holiday ban on approaching residences.

No-Knock Registry

Loudoun County does not maintain a central no-knock registry, but residents can post 'No Soliciting' or 'No Trespassing' signs that are legally enforceable under VA Code §18.2-119 (trespass after forbidden). Solicitors ignoring clearly posted signs face citations under Ord. Ch. 1056 plus state trespass charges. Most Ashburn, Brambleton, Broadlands, and Lansdowne HOAs also prohibit soliciting community-wide: ignoring HOA signs triggers additional trespass liability.
