Historic-Cultural Monuments
Maui County Code section 2.88.070 lets any person or organization nominate a property for the Hawaii or National Register of Historic Places. The county's nine-member cultural resources commission, created by chapter 2.88, reviews the nomination, holds a public hearing, and reports its recommendation to the mayor, who forwards a final position to the state historic preservation officer.
