New development landscaping in Mesa County's Urban Zoning Districts must favor drought-tolerant, native vegetation. The Land Development Code allows only turf mix, native grasses or wildflower seed mix to be planted as seed, and requires plant selection to emphasize drought-tolerant species while limiting high-water-use plants.
