Rodent Control

In Montgomery County outside Blacksburg and Christiansburg, County Code Sec. 7-54 declares any accumulation of matter in a residential area that becomes a breeding or harboring place for flies, insects, reptiles or rodents a public nuisance. The county health officer investigates complaints and can order the property cleaned up under Sec. 7-57.

Syringe Disposal

In Montgomery County outside Blacksburg and Christiansburg, County Code § 9.1-60 makes it unlawful to throw away a hypodermic needle, syringe or any injection device without first breaking or otherwise rendering it incapable of reuse. The instrument must then be wrapped or secured so collection crews cannot be injured, and any syringe that also qualifies as infectious waste under § 9.1-2 cannot go in a residential trash container at all.
