Before commencing any commercial, institutional, multifamily or industrial project with an area of more than one-half (½) acre; or a project requiring subdivision approval by a unit of local government with an area of more than one-half (½) acre, the owner of the land, or his representative, shall be required to file an application for an Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Control Permit.

Flood Elevation Requirements

Peoria County requires new buildings and substantial improvements in a mapped floodplain to sit above the flood protection elevation, defined as the base flood elevation plus a two-foot freeboard cushion. The Zoning Administrator enforces the standard through the county's floodplain development permit, and every mechanical system in the structure has to clear that same line.
