Prince William County treats running bamboo as a regulated weed. Code of Ordinances Section 29-17 makes it unlawful to let running bamboo grow without proper upkeep and containment, such as barriers or trenching, and separately unlawful to let it spread onto a neighbor's land or a public right-of-way.
