Sacramento County outlaws camping and encampments on public property throughout the unincorporated area under the Unlawful Camping Ordinance, Chapter 9.120. Camping on private land is barred too, except with the record owner's written consent for up to 72 hours, three times a year. The Sheriff and Regional Park Rangers enforce the ban, and the County abates encampments after 48 hours' written notice, less if there is an imminent safety threat.
